The James Island Christmas Lights Festival is in full swing drawing thousands of visitors each year. It is one of the Charleston area’s most anticipated holiday events, and for a good reason.

This holiday favorite includes something for everyone:

  • About 2 Million lights! Over 750 light displays many refurbished so they are brighter!
  • 3 mile drive through light show
  • Impressive sand sculpture
  • Victorian carousel
  • Walk through an enchanted walking trail or take the holiday train
  • Santa’s sweet shop and gift shops (patrons encourage to wear mask indoors)
  • Roast marshmallows
  • Climbing wall
  • Kettle corn, hot chocolate and so much more

In 2020, as a COVID-19 safety precaution, Santa’s Village and the Winter Wonderland attractions were closed. But this year, they are bringing the attractions back for the full Festival of Lights experience.  You will have the option of remaining in your car and driving through the brilliant, holiday light displays or you can also get out and walk around the Winter Wonderland and Santa’s Village!

Not only will you see classic holiday designs, like Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer and even Santa Claus, you can also look forward to many unique displays as well.

The Holiday Festival of Lights is always adding something new to its collection, making it a great place to visit year after year.

This is just one of the many fun attractions and things to do living in Charleston, SC.

The Festival of Lights will be open every day from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. until they close December 31st.
